A Vacation with a Photographer

My husband and I recently went on vacation to Mexico. I did not bring with my big cameras for I was worried about getting sand in the lenses. So instead, we ordered the new Nikon Coolpix S8000.  For any of you in the market for a point and shoot camera, this one is amazing.

Look at the waves rolling in!

I'm sure my husband got tired of me saying,"Just a second," while I took out my camera and started shooting.  I really like to take scenery pictures while I am on vacation.  My living room is full of blow up pictures from vacations.  It is really neat to be able to personalize our room with pictures of places we have been.

I hope you enjoy these!  We will be traveling to Chicago soon. I hope to capture some pictures there as well.
Tomorrow is Christmas! I hope each one of you get all that you want and more.  Happy Holidays!

It was really windy while we were there!

Beautiful sunset! Our resort was located right next to the ferry dock!

Me making my poor husband pose!

I loved the character that this tree had!

I could look at the sea for hours! Isn't  it relaxing?

I liked the texture that the waves had against the sand.

This picture was taken from a lighthouse. We had to climb 150 steep stairs to get to the top but it was well worth it!

This was half way up the lighthouse. I love the view from the window!

Perhaps I should have taken time to sit in these because they are very fun, but I was too busy taking pictures!

And your probably wondering what this has to do with our vacation!  Well, the snow storm that produced 21 inches of snow  greeting us as we were getting off of the plane!

The Polleys

This was my first photo shoot inside of the Ralph Engelstad Arena.  I have taken pictures outside of it and on the main floor, but never pictures like I got to take at this photo shoot.  Mom and dad work here, so we had full access.  We even go to take pictures in Mr. Engelstad's suite as well as right on the ice.
Look at all those facial expressions! Mom said it was very her!

Aren't her eyes pretty! She was a very sweet big sister!

Sister and best friends!

I'm happy I'm not the one that had to walk out onto the ice.  They did a great job not only getting out there, but also smiling at the camera even though I was far away!

We worked with a variety of locations and angles.

The girls were a lot of fun. They were ready to smile at all times. The youngest girl made some of the funniest faces, of which I caught on film.  We took a variety of pictures and I was very excited to share some of these with you.  It is always exciting to be at a new location with a great family!

The Beehlers

It was a very cold and windy day but we decided to still do a photo shoot.  As one could understand, when kids get older it is harder to schedule family pictures due to all the different schedules.  We had to work with the wind and the bright sun so our backgrounds were more limited.  Even though it was limited, I think the family will still really like their pictures.  They will look great on a Christmas card!

"Hunter" 5 Years Old With Lots of Personality!

What a poser!

Look at those brown eyes!

Mom and Hunter having fun on the railroad tracks!

Here's Hunter giving me a little attitude!

He thought of this pose all on his own!

That's a true smile!

Hunter was a very energetic 5 year old. He was smiling and ready to pose without me even having to get him to warm up to me. By the end of the session, he was playing games and even throwing in some poses that were his own ideas!    Hunter had dimples, which were very adorable. I had to refrain myself from pinching his cheeks!  Mom even snuck in for a picture!

The Huus's!

Boys will be boys! (Love it!)

I love how they all linked onto each other in some form or another!

This was a great photo shoot with a friend and her family today. I have worked with this lady throughout the last three years so it was great to meet her family!  She is the only lady in the house followed by 4 men!  Boys will be boys! We had some great laughs during this photo shoot.  Each boy brought their personality to the session! They also brought with their brotherly mannerisms for each other!  At one point, the older two were head locking each other while the younger one punched!  Of course, it was all fun and games so we could capture the love!

I strive to capture the true personality of each client I have. This means capturing some facial expressions that aren't always smiles!  They can be goofy faces, sassy faces, and much more.  I also don't "over pose" families.  It is their communication through body language with each other that will make the picture memorable.  If the family snuggles in together, holds hands, etc, this is how they communicate as a family. It makes the picture more personalized to their special family.

Small Business Development Center: North Dakota

These are some proofs for the Small Business Development Center. They are looking for pictures that aren't posed against a tan wall! They wanted something a bit more relaxed done in black and white to match the new website that will be put together soon! These are just a few of the examples for SBDC people to view. If you would like to see the picture larger, just click on it and a larger image will appear.

Jennifer's Family Session

I love when families snuggle for pictures!

Here's one of the many goofy shots we did.

Look who's having fun!

These are his glasses.

This is his mustache!

This was my last fall session. It actually was quit warm out! (Amazing that today, October 31st,and I could still be outside taking pictures!) This little boy was lots of fun to photograph. He likes to take goofy pictures so we would take a nice picture and then a goofy picture. We also got family shots of him with mom and dad. We took pictures in two different locations which allowed for a variety of backgrounds. I think they turned out pretty awesome!
